Man Sexually Abused 12-Year-Old Girl In Capital Region, Sent Her 'Indecent' Material: Police

A 19-year-old man from the region is facing charges after allegedly sexually abusing a young girl.

Leon Carney, age 19, was arrested Thursday, June 8, for allegedly sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl and sending her "indecent material."

Warren County resident Leon Carney, of Warrensburg, was arrested Thursday, June 8 following an investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, Carney was found to have had sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl in the village of Victory Mills in May 2023.

He also sent the child “indecent material” through a social networking app, deputies said.

Carney is charged with the following:

  • Second-degree sexual abuse (misdemeanor)
  • First-degree disseminating indecent material to a minors (felony)
  • Forcible touching (misdemeanor)
  • Endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor)

He was arraigned in the Town of Saratoga Court, where a judge ordered him jailed on $1,000 cash bail.
